Here’s a link to the final report (released today) from the UN Special Rapporteur’s visit to the UK in August/September 2013 to investigate ‘adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living’. It infuriated the Tories last year and I’m delighted to say that it should do again. The government stands accused of operating a regressive housing policy against the standards of international human rights. Among the key recommendations are:
1. Immediate suspension of the Bedroom Tax.
2. Increased investment in affordable housing (including council housing).
3. Strict regulation of the private rented sector.
I don’t normally make this request, but please forward (particularly if you know Ed Milliband).
